  • Danielle Demko

    Senior Facilitator

    OHI community member since 2018

“I’m passionate about people—and inspiring them to live life at the highest level. That’s why it’s such an honor to encourage and cheer our community members on as they navigate their healing journeys. I’ve also pursued my own healing journey through the years—and joining OHI finally sync’d what I knew instinctively and had learned over the years about the connection between body, mind and spirit. Its simple truths are profound!”

  • Andy Tutino

    Senior Facilitator

    OHI community member since 1991

“What makes OHI most special is the community that develops among the guests and staff at OHI. Once you experience the program and meet the people that attend, you will want to be part of OHI."

  • Ken Dorr

    Senior Facilitator

    OHI community member since 2013

"I love so many aspects of OHI. If I were to list a few they would include, the kind sense of community, the profound learning experiences, the regaining of a magical aliveness, and the spiritual opportunities this safe and peaceful institute helps provide for those who need it. I am also blessed and deeply grateful for the opportunity to create healthy nutritional food and I take comfort in the knowing that guests will take the program home to keep their body, mind and spirit in balance. This is truly my dream job."

  • Guillermo Romero

    Director of Guest Services

    Community member since 2013

"When I first started working at OHI, I didn't realize what I truly signed up for. It didn't take long for me to see the significant difference that OHI makes in peoples' lives. I see that now and want to be a part of it. The connection between the guests and the staff is like a family. I'm so blessed to be part of this wonderful atmosphere. To work here is very fulfilling and rewarding."

  • Carla Boeck

    Kitchen Manager

    OHI community member since 2015

“Working at OHI has opened my eyes more to the wholeness of healing beyond just a clean diet. I have met some incredible people since working here and love knowing that all of our team’s efforts help heal our guests. Even after receiving my bachelor’s degree in Food and Nutrition, I’ve gained so much knowledge here at OHI about how a raw diet heals the mind, body and spirit.”

  • Miles Jacobsen

    Assistant Kitchen Manager

    OHI community member since 2016

“My favorite moments are talking with guests on a personal level about what their goals are and how we can best meet their dietary needs on their paths to optimum health. We’re constantly devising new and delicious recipes that are healthy—and I also love to make our meals look visual appealing. Every detail matters!”

Spiritual Disciplines

In the Judeo Christian tradition, spiritual disciplines are a means of receiving the grace of God. They enable us to do what we cannot do on our own. By practicing spiritual disciplines, we cultivate a life in which God can bring growth, change, and transformation. Typically, spiritual disciplines are divided into two categories – internal and external. Some examples are listed below:

Internal / abstinence

  • Solitude: Be absent from others so you can be present with God
  • Silence: Quiet your voice and the voices of others, so you can listen for the voice of God
  • Fasting: Be aware of yourself and the needs of others; focus your heart on God
  • Frugality: Remove your desire for luxury and devote your resources to serving God and others
  • Secrecy: Let go of external recognition and find acceptance from God
  • Sacrifice:Give up self-security and put total trust in God

External / engagement

  • Prayer: Converse with God : Ask, listen, and open your life to change
  • Study: Change your way of thinking, your way of knowing and pursue God's truth
  • Worship: Experience the greatness of God in everything and everybody
  • Celebration: Rejoice in the goodness of God and live your life in gratitude
  • Fellowship: Gather with others to share love, joy, and encouragement
  • Service: Serve others and free yourself from arrogance and judgment
  • Submission: Be honest, open, and accountable to God and others
  • Confession: Acknowledge your offenses and find freedom in forgiveness

Practicing spiritual disciplines helps affirm your belief in God, enabling you to witness transformation in yourself and others in a community of faith, hope, and love.
